Twitchy Returns ("Hoodwinked 2" Cast News)

I had a lot of fun recording the voice of TWITCHY again for Hoodwinked 2. It was at Universal a couple weeks ago, with director Mike D'Isa in the booth. I was a little nervous about getting back the right vibe that would sound good speeded up in post, but everyone on the other side of the glass seemed pretty happy. I was able to come up with some ad-libs, along with a lot of the grunts and gastrointestinal sounds that make Twitchy so crazy.
And YES, I've heard all of the comparisons to "Hammy the Squirrel" in Over The Hedge, as well as someone called "Foamy the Squirrel" on the internet. I can take those hyper rodents any day of the week. BRING IT! Sorry. That's the coffee talking. Truth be told, Twitchy was always meant to be an homage to fast-talking critters like Chip & Dale and Alvin & the Chipmunks.
Some of you have been asking about the cast of Hoodwinked 2. I'm very excited to report that Weinstein Company has lined up some fantastic talent for this movie. Now that everyone has been locked in, I can give you some names! As far as I know, this is the first place this cast has been announced.
Many of the original cast have returned. Glenn Close is still Granny, and Patrick Warburton remains The Wolf (very, very happy about that). Nicky Flippers will once again be performed by David Ogden Stiers. Andy Dick has voiced Boingo again (that's right, Boingo is still around, as unstable as ever... but not the greatest threat this time).

And yes, yes, yes, for everyone who keeps asking, THE GOAT IS BACK. Japeth the singing goat will appear again, voiced by my good buddy Benjy Gaither.
There are some brand new and very cool additions to this sequel. This time around, Red will not be voiced by Anne Hathaway, but by Hayden Panettiere, the "super cheerleader" from Heroes. This seems very fitting, since Red becomes a bit more of a "caped crusader" in this film. The Woodsman is now being voiced by comedy legend Martin Short. Martin Short! He was an "Amigo" for Pete's sake. Crazy. Those are the new folks stepping into old roles.
As for new characters, without giving any plot away, I will tell you that Joan Cusack is a new villainous witch, and Brad Garrett is The Giant from the notorious beanstalk. David Alan Grier plays a troll, which should be really funny... I heard he was off the charts with the ad-libs. And finally, all you SNL fans will be psyched to know that Amy Poehler and Bill Hader will be voicing Hansel & Gretel. How's that for a cast?
Oh, and me. I'm in it. Saying "whoopee" a lot.
That's all for now. Stay twitchy.

What an amazing group of people!
You know, it's the little things like fast talking squirrels, maniacal bunnies, and banjo plucking goats that make me happy....
That's quite a lineup of talent! I look forward to the final production.
Hey, Cory. Don't know if you remember me, but we were on the yearbook staff at AU together way back in the day. (I was Cindy's roommate.) My kids loved "Hoodwinked" and will be excited to hear this news about the sequel. I love popping by your blog now and then to see what fun and creative things you're up to! -Julia (www.juliaknispel.com)
This is an awesome cast! I'm excited to see the results.
But... who's sound designing?
I am so relieved! I did a google search for Hood vs. Evil and hadn't seen any recent news, so I went to the Blue Yonder web site and noticed no recent updates. Then, I tried emailing the site e-mail to ask if Hood vs. Evil was still going to happen, and my e-mails were returned. It turns out, the answer to my burning question was googling Cory Edwards : )
I hope the question did not burn too much. There is probably an ointment for that.
Aravis is a character name from my VERY favorite CS Lewis book (and one of my favorites, period), "The Horse and His Boy".
Either you have great taste in books too, or you are just lucky to have a cool-daddy name.
I just have good taste, I guess.
An answer is so much better than ointment, no matter how minty smelling it may be.
I just think that any movie with 2 in the title has to be followed by the words Electric Boogaloo !!
here is a post i left @cinemablend in reply to some criticism, and some posts from todd and cory.. thought i'd post it here too!
yes, the animation wasnt top notch.. but seeing the movie in context (lowbudget animation) its a little gem.. i loved the concept.. very, VERY original.. look, i like shrek but its slapstick compared to hoodwinked.. loved the minimal reference to popular movies and contemporary stuff.. if i\'ll watch this movie in 20 years.. its still funny.. whereas shrek 1 will then need to be viewed in context(matrix 1 very popular) with the bullet time and stuff..
i sincerely hope the sequel is as original.. what i liked about the concept was that its a different take on a very well known story.. the different stories hooked into eachother like the puzzle pieces flipper was talking about (see movie).. i loved the details put in..
and what i really loved where the songs.. \"be prepared\" is absolutely genius(hoping that Japeth the mountain goat will reprise).. would love to know what really happened to him.. but i loved that song, all though i found it kind of weird that he is calling the mountain shack his \"whore\" listen good, preferably to the OST cd.. he really says that.. not his home.. very funny though.. the songs are probably what i most enjoyed in the movie..
as for criticism.. yes.. the animations isnt all that great.. but its more noticably cuz the main character (red) kinda has a dead face.. sorry guys but she has.. if that wasnt the case nobody would probably notice cuz most of the supporting cast actually looks pretty expressive.. maybe cuz they aint human.. most of the humans look .. weird.. but im sure that will be rectified with hoodwinked2.. but that is the only criticism i can think of..
so to summarize great characters, great story, great songs.. not so great animation on the human characters..
now as for people from the production team posting about their movie, and keeping in contact with the internet community.. thats absolutely the best thing ever.. thats a very smart thing to do.. as it engages people.. evidence is this longass post i just made..
guys keep up the good work.. and if you need a sound designer/electronic music artist shoot me a mail.. (hey never hurts to try :D) visit my website for contact details.. www.wisefire.net (under construction.)
I am so excited! My family loves Hoodwinked! I am finding it almost impossible to find the soundtrack without spending $30. I'm sorry about Red being someone different, but I'll judge that when I see the movie! Any dates for the release? Or is that looking to far ahead?
No idea on the release date...but it's safe to say it is a couple of years away. Sorry. These animated films take time.
And to clarify something "YSBRAND" said, NO, Japeth does not sing about "whores." He sings about his home. Trust me.
We are well aware of the limits of the low-budget animation. It's amazing to me how forgiving audiences can be in live action indies ("Clerks," "Once" etc.), but so unforgiving in animation. Just a different standard, we learned.
A couple of years? Ouch.
A couple years...I guess that figures. :( I'll be waiting!!!!
I don't know. The animation in Hoodwinked seemed to work in this kind of film. I dig the water, though!
Sequel needs more Japheth,Mr Flippers and maybe a more aggressive Twitchy.
I am actually looking forward to it.
Man, I can't wait to see Hoodwinked 2. I loved the first one!
Thank you very much for this information.

We loved Hoodwinked! The story(so much more important than animation) was so well done! We also liked that it was clean, i.e. we weren't afraid for our children to watch it. I wouldn't let my children watch Shrek until they are in high school due to the potty humor, etc. Hoodwinked proves that children and adults can both be entertained by a clean movie. Please keep Hoodwinked 2 clean. Thanks so much!
thanks for the infoo
